In the beginning, I was a musician. I went to college to study vocal jazz performance.
I vividly recall a lesson with my voice teacher leading up to my vocal jury. I had taken an extensive break from practicing in order to search for and download the perfect font for my jury folder cover. I was so excited to share this with my instructor, and she was baffled over my enthusiasm for my beautifully designed cover. Later when it was time for my graduation recital, I put as much effort in to designing my recital posters and programs as I did practicing to perform.
